Another example why some parents should’ve never had kids

Information & Education, Life & Living, Youth
The other day I was left scratching my head after hearing the following story. It appears that a kindergartener in Upstate New York somehow managed to get on the wrong school bus. It seems there was a substitute bus driver that day, who didn’t recognize the little girl, and so she was taken to the wrong school. An ironic twist to this story is that the 1st grade class at this other school was also expecting a new arrival on the very same day. When the young girl arrived at the wrong school, you’d assume she’d be crying and frightened – perhaps even calling out for her mommy to make it all better. But that’s NOT what happened. No instead the young girl (whom I might add was your average…

On a resume, remember the only one selling yourself is you!

Information & Education, Life & Living
The resume. For some it’s a document that’s easily created in no time flat. But for those more humble individuals, it can be a daunting task to complete for they’re simply not comfortable bragging about themselves. They do what they do because that’s just who they are. But resumes are not the time for humility. It’s a time when a piece of paper serves as the only basis for another human being to connect with you favorably. Therefore, it’s important you make sure you’ve give them a reason to get to know your further. I think we all forget that a resume is like a sales pitch about ourselves. It’s our one chance to gain the interest of a prospective employer with our skills and abilities - in the hopes…

Science is not always the answer when it comes to Alzheimer’s

Information & Education, Life & Living
Alzheimer’s disease is perhaps one of the most misunderstood diseases in existence today. It’s often misdiagnosed, with no accurate test to determine if an individual is afflicted, and sadly there’s no cure or one treatment option that works for everyone. Alzheimer’s progression is often heart breaking to watch, as the person you once knew slowly disappears into a world of their own. The internet is filled with information and tools regarding the disease from not only medical professionals, but caregivers as to what approaches, medication combinations and support programs have shown positive responses. It’s a wonderful way to unite caregivers and educate families based on individual experiences towards a disease no one has any definitive answers on. But what all this information really provides is something everyone needs – hope.…

Don’t let your life be haunted by regrets

Life & Living
How much of your time do you spend helping yourself rather than helping others? Do you continually find excuses not to offer a sympathetic ear, a cure for loneliness or a temporary reprieve from life’s unending burdens? America is littered with skewed priorities. Money, popularity and material possessions seem to be more important than offering one of the greatest gifts you can give a person – the gift of your time. But time here on earth is not infinite, and at some point those we’ve essentially abandoned for our own self-serving behavior will be gone forever. The Dalai Lama once said, “We must each lead a way of life with self-awareness and compassion, to do as much as we can. Then, whatever happens we will have no regrets.” There are…

How you cope through life is what really matters

Life & Living
There are days when I’m brimming with confidence and personal strength – and others when I’m crippled by a lack of self-esteem and anxiety. There are days, when regardless of circumstance, I feel overwhelming joy and happiness – and others when the afflictions of life literally reduce me to tears. There are days when I feel surrounded by unconditional love and appreciation – and others when I long for the care of those who have passed on from this world. But then I’m reminded of a quote by pshycholigst and educator Virginia Satir which always seems to inspire me. “Life is not what it’s supposed to be. It’s what it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.” Life will never be consistent. With every good…
