Sending flowers is really NOT that hard – saying I love you is

Does anyone really believe that simply sending flowers to your wife or girlfriend qualifies you as a candidate for husband or boyfriend of the year?

I can answer that question…WITH A BIG, FAT NO!!!

Girls for some reason get all giddy when a guy brings them flowers. I’m not really sure why since it has to be one of the easiest, most emotionally starved acts a man can do. In fact the art was probably invented by a man so he’d have an easy way to get out of trouble when he spends too long in front of the television, or God forbid, forgets your birthday or anniversary.

Where is this coming from you might ask?

The other day some girl at work was sent flowers from her boyfriend. All the girls flocked around her like she was a celebrity walking down the red carpet. They were saying things like, “Wow, he’s such a great guy…sending you flowers!” or “Man, he treats you so well…you are so lucky.”  The funny thing is the first thought that came to my mind was “what did he do wrong?”

I’m not saying that this relatively simple purchase for that special someone (you can order them from the comfort of your home computer now) isn’t a nice gesture, because it is. But let’s not fool ourselves – sending flowers  really isn’t that hard to do. I tend to think that a handwritten, heartfelt note of affection would do more to stir someone’s emotions and have greater longevity than a bunch of flowers with a very short shelf life.

But when you live in a society where everything is about “the show” and everyone is against talking about their true feelings, is it any wonder why florists are still flourishing?
