Setting aside your pride

Pride has been defined as “a high or inordinate opinion of one’s own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority” – and whether we like to admit it or not, we all harbor this unflattering quality in varying degrees over our lifetime.

It seems to creep up on us in our families, at our jobs and even amongst friends, especially when we’re faced with the reality that we’re not the perfect person we thought ourselves to be.

But there is no one perfect person roaming the earth – no matter what people might tell you.

We all have our share of faults, though many of us fail to fess up to them.

So what’s my point?

Life is too short to allow the trivialities of life to become huge issues because of one’s pride.

Sometimes we need to accept the imperfections which plague our lives, set aside our pride and communicate with the people who mean the most to us – even if we don’t want to.

Remember: “It is better to lose your pride with someone you love rather than to lose that someone you love with your useless pride.” John Ruskin
