“Every tomorrow has two handles. We can take hold of it by the handle of anxiety, or by the handle of faith.” ~Author Unknown
Those closest to me know all too well that I’m often holding on by the handle of anxiety – worrying and many times obsessing about situations I usually have no control over.
I want to be the kind of human being that can turn to the handle of faith and feel guarded from the harsh realities of life, but it never works out that way.
Maybe my expectations are too high – believing that some divine miracle will swoop down like a superhero and suddenly make all my troubles vaporize before me. I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that many times when we turn to a higher power for guidance, we’re often let down by the results we were hoping to achieve.
I’ve often theorized that this is the culprit for society’s reluctance to practice any one organized religion today. I’m mean let’s be honest, if we’re not seeing results with anything we’re doing be it a diet, an education or even religion, chances are we’ll grow discouraged and cease going forward with the plan.
I don’t mean to sound pessimistic here, really I don’t. But believing in anything doesn’t mean to worship blindly. Every action has a reaction and sometimes we need to see that in order to keep our faith alive.
